At Patricia’s Table, we empower kids to expand their minds and taste buds while whipping up batches of fun in the kitchen. Our hands-on cooking classes combine culinary techniques, locally-grown foods, and fresh flavors as we create sweet and savory treats from scratch. Join us at the kids’ table!
We strive to:
- Honor kids’ intelligence and encourage them in becoming confident, creative chefs
- Teach life skills (and knife skills!) in a fun and safe environment
- Cook with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients whenever possible
- Invite grown-ups to join in the fun
About Patricia’s Table
Patricia Tamminga grew up cooking with her mom and grandparents in Lufkin, Texas, in a lively kitchen full of family, garden vegetables, and handmade pasta. As a kid, she loved to eat liver and onions and cornichons – that is, until she got to school and learned not to. After getting her BA in Finance from Ole Miss, she went on to Johnson & Wales University, where she studied culinary arts. After working at Brennan’s of Houston, Patricia moved to Austin and became a kindergarten teacher. Teaching kids to cook was clearly the next step. When she started offering after-school cooking classes for kids at her home in Austin, she was thrilled to see how much more adventurous kids were about eating new things when they were the cooks. She opened Patricia’s Table in 2014 to bring fun cooking experiences to even more kids and their parents.
Patricia’s Table is a dedicated teaching kitchen with kid-friendly touches like an induction cooktop and low ovens. We grow some of our own vegetables and herbs in our backyard kitchen garden and partner with local farmers, butchers, and other food providers for fresh, seasonal ingredients.
And Patricia’s Table isn’t just for kids — we also offer fun cooking classes for grown-ups! Our BYOB adult classes are instructive but informal, designed to make casual cooks and non-cooks alike feel at home in the kitchen.
